Does this sound like you?

If even a few of these land,

you’re in the right place.

Your mind never stops looping

  • You’re constantly checking, washing, or redoing things just to feel “safe”.
  • You spend hours doing rituals for reasons you don’t understand, and it feels exhausting.
  • You get trapped in endless “what if” spirals and can’t find the exit.
  • You can’t seem to stop imagining the worst case scenario.
  • You’re exhausted from hiding these behaviors or trying to explain why they makes sense.

Your mind never stops racing

  • You have many super cool ideas and endless to-do lists than never get done.
  • You can hyperfocus for 9 hours, but forget to eat lunch.
  • You’ve tried 5 productivity apps, 3 planners, and 1 expensive course, but you still feel stuck.
  • You mask and socialize all day, then want to curl up into a ball the second you get home.
  • You were diagnosed or self-diagnosed with ADHD or Autism or AuDHD as an adult, and feel equal parts relief and grief.

“A calm, settled body is the foundation for health, for healing, for helping others, and for changing the world.”

What is a “spicy brain”?

What is a non-linear, neurodiverse, or “spicy brain”?

If people have repeatedly told you that you’re “too much”, too sensitive, too intense, too loud, too focused on the “wrong things,” you could have what I like to call a “spicy brain.”

This is language that is sometimes used in the neurodiverse community to explain a brain that works differently than the average.

My area of expertise

My work addresses the following:

ERP for OCD

Addiction recovery

Somatic healing

Attachment-styles

We work with these responses directly, so that the change is felt and sustained.

If the above resonates you might be creative, deeply empathetic, and perceptive in a way that others sometimes miss. And you might feel exhausted from a world that keeps asking you to adapt to its way of doing things.

About me

Hi, I’m Amalia.

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 14 years of experience working with people who have been called “too much”, “too intense”, or “too sensitive”.

I’ve spent my career at the intersection of trauma care, somatic work, and neurodiverse-affirming care. Most recently I have also worked with OCD and ERP.

I am based in Lisbon, working with clients across Europe and North America.

What I’ve learned after more than a decade of practice is that science gives us the framework, but the body shows us the way forward.

Questions

Frequently asked questions.

Do I need a diagnosis to work with you?

No. I also work with clients that are self-identified or in process. If you recognize yourself reading throught my website, that’s more than enough to reach out.

I’m not based in Lisbon or New York. Can we work together?

Absolutely, coaching is available online and in Europe.

Therapy is available online for New York State residents only.

I offer European and US-friendly time slots.

How is coaching different from therapy?

Therapy looks more to the past to understand patterns and old wounds.

Coaching is more forward-focused, we start from where you are and build from there.

They complement each other beautifully.

Do you offer sessions in Portuguese?

I would love to! Sessions are available in English and Portuguese.

The next steps?

You don’t have to figure this out alone.

Whether you’re exhausted from fighting with OCD, or overwhelmed and feeling like you are being pulled in a million different directions, or somewhere in between the two. There is a way through.
