Starting ADHD coaching in Lisbon begins with a simple, no-pressure conversation. The first step is to book a free, 30-minute consultation call to see if we are a good fit. This initial chat is where we listen to what’s going on for you and you get a real feel for how we work, ensuring you feel confident before committing to anything. Our goal is to provide a space where you can explore what neurodiverse-affirming support looks like, specifically tailored for adults with ADHD, AuDHD, or autism, whether you are in Lisbon or elsewhere in Europe.
What is ADHD coaching
ADHD coaching is a collaborative, 1-on-1 process designed to help you build practical systems and structures that work with your unique brain rather than against it. It’s important to say It’s not therapy; instead, it is a forward-looking partnership focused on tangible life skills. Together, we identify your specific challenges with executive functions (like planning, time management, and emotional regulation) and develop personalized strategies to address them.
My neurodiverse-affirming coaching moves beyond simply managing deficits. We work to uncover the strengths that come with your neurotype, reframing the narrative from one of struggle to one of capability. Sessions are typically held online, sometimes in person (Lisbon only), providing flexibility whether you’re in Lisbon or another part of Europe. This work is about creating sustainable habits and a supportive environment that allows you to thrive.
Who this is a good fit for, and who it isn’t
This type of coaching is most effective when you’re in the right place for it. Honesty about fit is crucial for success.
This could be a good fit if:
- You are an adult who knows or suspects you have ADHD and feel stuck, despite knowing what you “should” be doing.
- You’re an expat or digital nomad in Lisbon struggling to adapt your routines and manage the unique administrative and social challenges here.
- You have tried traditional productivity methods, and they have consistently failed or made you feel worse.
- You are looking for practical, real-world strategies for managing daily life, not just talk therapy.
This might not be the right fit if:
- You are primarily seeking treatment for a severe mental health crisis, which requires a different level of clinical care.
- You are looking for a “quick fix” or someone to simply tell you what to do without being involved in the process yourself.
- You are not open to exploring the emotional dimensions of ADHD and how they connect to behavior.
- You need a formal ADHD diagnosis for medication or academic accommodations, which a coach cannot provide.
How the work runs, step by step
Our process is structured yet flexible, adapting to your pace and needs. Here’s a general outline of how we move from the first call to ongoing support.
Step 1: Free Consultation (30 Minutes)
This is our starting point. You book a free call. There’s no prep work needed from you. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you to coaching, what you’ve tried before, and what you hope to achieve. It’s also your chance to ask me anything about my approach. By the end of the call, we’ll both have a clear idea of whether we should move forward.
Step 2: The Foundation Session (First 1-2 Sessions)
Our first sessions are about mapping your world. We’ll dive deep into your specific relationship with ADHD. What does it feel like day-to-day? Where are the major friction points. At work, at home, in relationships? We’ll discuss your executive function profile, your emotional landscape, and, just as importantly, your strengths and interests. This forms the foundation for all subsequent work.
Step 3: Building Your Toolkit (Ongoing Sessions)
With a clear picture established, we shift into active strategy-building. Each session will focus on a specific challenge you’re facing. If you’re struggling with deadlines, we won’t just talk about it; we’ll co-create a system for tracking time and projects that feels intuitive to you. We might explore tools for managing digital clutter, scripts for difficult conversations, or routines that reduce decision fatigue. You will leave each session with a concrete experiment to try.
Step 4: Review and Refine
Coaching is an iterative process. What works one week might need tweaking the next. We regularly check in on the strategies we’ve implemented. We celebrate the wins, and we get curious about what didn’t work and why. This is a no-shame zone. The goal is to find sustainable momentum and building self-trust.
What happens after you inquire
From the moment you reach out, we aim for clarity and responsiveness.
- Within 24 Hours: After you book a consultation, you will receive an email confirmation with the link for our video call.
- The First Call: During our 30-minute chat, I (Amalia) will listen to your story and explain how I work. The main goal is to determine fit. I’ll ask about your goals and what you’re hoping to change.
- The Decision: At the end of the call, I’ll give you my honest assessment. If I believe I can help, I’ll explain the next steps for booking your first session. If it is not a good fit, I will do my best to suggest alternative resources or providers that might be better suited to your needs. There is never any pressure to sign up on the spot.

FAQ
Do I need a formal ADHD diagnosis to start coaching?
No, you do not. Many of our clients are self-diagnosed or simply suspect they have ADHD based on their life experiences. Our coaching is based on your specific challenges and goals, not a formal label. We focus on the “what,” not the “why.”
Is this the same as therapy?
No, coaching and therapy are different. As one of the best ADHD therapists and psychologists in Lisbon, I can clarify the distinction. Therapy, particularly models like CBT, often delves into your past to heal trauma and treat clinical conditions like anxiety or depression. Coaching is present- and future-focused. It’s about building skills and strategies for moving forward. While the two can be complementary, coaching does not replace mental health treatment.
How long do people typically stay in coaching?
This varies greatly. Some clients work with a coach for a few months to tackle a specific goal, like setting up a new business or navigating a life transition. Others find value in ongoing support for a year or more to continue refining their systems. We will regularly check in on your progress and goals to ensure our work together remains valuable.
What if I live outside of Lisbon?
That is no problem at all. While based in Lisbon, our coaching is offered fully online. We work with clients across Europe, providing the same level of dedicated, neurodiverse-affirming support regardless of location.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask for 24 hours’ notice for any cancellations or rescheduling requests. This allows us to offer the slot to another client. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged the full session fee.
What if we start and it doesn’t feel like a good fit?
This is why we have the free initial consultation. It minimizes the risk for both of us. However, if after a few sessions you feel it’s not working, you are never locked in. We can simply end our coaching relationship. My priority is that you get the right support, even if it’s not with me.
